Mediterranean Dialogue Highlights Greater Economic Cooperation Between Western Balkans and EU

Rome, November 27, 2024 – Minister of European and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani attended the 10th edition of the international conference “Mediterranean Dialogue 2024” in Rome, where discussions focused on the critical role of the Western Balkans in enhancing security and stability in the Mediterranean.

During the panel discussion on “The Role of the Western Balkans in Mediterranean Security,” Minister Hasani stressed the importance of enhancing economic and energy cooperation between the countries of the region and the EU. He also emphasized that the integration of the Western Balkans into European frameworks, especially security and military policy, is a crucial step towards ensuring regional peace and stability.

“Over the past decade, the Western Balkans have played an important role in building relations between Europe and the Mediterranean. By working closely together and committing to security initiatives, we can help stabilize the region and strengthen the long-term resilience of the Mediterranean,” said Minister Hasani in his speech.

The summit, hosted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, brought together the Italian Prime Minister, top diplomats, experts, and analysts from other countries to discuss the fundamental difficulties facing Mediterranean countries.
